I’m a graphic designer with over 30 years of experience. Having trained at Northbrook College of Art & Design I decided to start my own business right out of College.  This was in the days before computers had totally changed the face of our industry.  I used a pencil to come up with ideas, and Pantone pens to create visuals… I’m talking old school! Mind you this was back in the late eighties and I still start my designs with a pencil. So I guess old habits die hard.

Working at first alone from home, then in the salubrious surroundings of a corridor between my landlord’s office and the toilet! Later my creative home was at the head of a small purpose-built studio in Littlehampton, which was part of my father’s well-respected printing firm. During my career, I have created many designs for a multitude of clients. From one-man bands to blue-chip corporations like Bunzl Fine Paper and Stagecoach. Always giving my very best advice and efforts no matter how big or small the job or client was. I built my reputation on the creation of imaginative work, produced on time and on budget.

I first became aware of the web early on. I would tell you the year but it so long ago I can’t remember now. There wasn’t much of a search engine to speak of yet and download speeds would make you laugh. The top speed was around 28kps and came with a lot of noise and the cost of the phone line. But it soon became clear that it was going to have a big effect on the way we lived and worked.

Over time I deepened my knowledge of website design and development and eventually built full database driven content management systems, e-commerce sites as well as simple one or two-page websites for my clients. I used Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Flash to create lots of different websites, driven mostly by CSS, PHP and MySql.

In 2012 I was introduced to WordPress through a prospective client. It didn’t take long to realise it would enable me to get on with making things look great, whilst freeing me from most of the tedious coding that, to be honest, can drive you mad when you work alone and love to make things look good.

WordPress isn’t just great for me, it works better for my clients too. I can finally deliver the cost-effective website solutions with built-in future-proofing I always wanted to.

So that’s about it, I’ll look forward to talking to you about your future website and building a great working relationship with you, whilst creating something really wonderful.

Kelly 🙂
